8:30 - 9:30 - The Honorable Kenneth Gonzales, 
                       Chief U.S. Judge

Stenographers in Federal Courts

Judge Gonzales, current Chief Judge in New Mexico, will speak about the state of the Federal courts in the 10th Circuit.  He will discuss how court reporters are crucial to our judicial system.

9:45 - 10:45 - Francis Vigil, Director of Indian Education

 Native American Education

Mr. Vigil will be discussing all aspects of Native American education at tribal, state, and federal levels in our state, including Native language immersion programs.

'Bee-rilliant' Spelling Bee

Beekeeping is a heavily regulated agricultural industry, and this seminar will focus on the legal hurdles facing the industry, as well as focusing on beekeeping in the desert.  To highlight the topic of discussion, members will participate in a spelling 'bee' of technical apiculture terminology.

                      U.S. House of Representatives Reporter

 Reporting in the U.S. House of Representatives 

Melinda Walker is an NCRA member who has had an amazing and interesting career as a stenographer and a former U.S. House of Representatives reporter.  Our members are looking forward to hearing about her career and all things stenography.
